A 39-year-old man has been accused of repeatedly raping his mother in central Delhi's Hauz Qazi area. The heinous crime was reported to the police on Saturday after the victim, a housewife who had just returned from a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, gathered the courage to file a complaint against her son, identified as Md Firoz alias Suhel. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community and highlights a harrowing case of domestic violence and sexual assault.
According to police officials, the complainant, accompanied by her 25-year-old daughter, approached the Hauz Qazi police station to register the complaint. She alleged that her son had assaulted and sexually abused her on multiple occasions during August. The victim told the police that during a recent pilgrimage trip to Saudi Arabia, her son had called her husband, who is 72, and accused her of having a "bad character," demanding that his father return to Delhi and divorce her.
The nightmare for the victim escalated upon her family's return on August 1. She alleged that the accused physically assaulted her on that day and attempted to attack her again the following day. Fearing for her safety, the woman was forced to leave her home and seek refuge at her elder daughter's in-laws' house for a temporary period. This initial act of violence set a terrifying precedent for the assaults that were to follow.
The complainant further alleged that on August 11, upon her return home, her son insisted on speaking with her privately. He then locked her in a room, threatened her with a knife and a pair of scissors, and allegedly raped her. Out of fear, shame, and trauma, the victim did not report the incident immediately. To protect herself, she began sleeping in the same room as her younger daughter, believing it would deter further attacks.
However, her fears were not unfounded. According to the police report, the accused allegedly repeated the horrifying act on August 14 around 3:30 am. It was after this second assault that the woman found the courage to confide in her daughter, and together they went to the police station to file a complaint. The bravery of the victim in coming forward is a testament to her strength despite the immense trauma she has endured.
